Easter Family Service

“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you”.

British Summer Time began this morning , and we had an hour less sleep. Who cares !  On a day like this the words of Isaiah should rouse us from sleep with a longing to praise our God.

“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.Isaiah 60:1 (NIV)

On such a wonderful day as this with the sun shining on East Loch Tarbert,  it was a joy  to be up early to meet  with God and to come together to worship Him.   And so it was with thanksgiving to God that we met together in the Church earlier on today for the Sunday school Easter family service. The Easter family service is always a special time when we remember  and give thanks for the fact that Jesus rose from the grave.  For the Christian the first day of the week should always be our Easter – our Lord’s day, when the Angels gave the great  news that Jesus Christ had risen from the grave. “He is not here HE HAS RISEN’

We sang  ‘all I once held dear’, ‘give me oil in my lamp’  and listened as Niel and then Seumas read to us passages from John 20 .

The singing of Keith & Krystyn Getty’s ‘See what a morning’ was powerful spirit filled praise and we give thanks to God for the truth of the words of this hymn

“See, what a morning, gloriously bright,
With the dawning of hope in Jerusalem;
Folded the grave-clothes, tomb filled with light,
As the angels announce, “Christ is risen!

In our first talk ‘HE IS RISEN’  we thought of the mystery of the empty tomb , from the perspective of Peter, John and Mary in John 20.

Our second talk was called ‘ THE MASTER’S VOICE’ where we looked at how Mary didn’t recognise Jesus at first but responded to His voice when she heard her name.

‘Jesus said to her, “Mary.”She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).’ ( John 20:16)

After singing Praise 302 I want to walk with Jesus Christ  our third Bible Reading  focused Luke 24: 13-23 (NIV) as did our third Talk  called ” WHAT HAPPENED NEXT ?”  When we looked at the wonderful story of Jesus meeting the two on the road to Emmaus.
Our last praise was ‘There is a redeemer’.

A  great blessing to be together as a family of God before the Sunday school go on holiday to worship the risen Jesus.
